FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, looking for a new contract, says the team sent his agents a proposal last week and they are currently evaluating it.

The All-Pro selection said Thursday he would like to be the highest-paid player at his position, considering he’s regarded by many as the league’s best cornerback.

Oakland cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha signed a three-year, $45.3 million deal last offseason.

Revis is scheduled to make $1 million in the fourth season of his six-year rookie deal. He says he’ll sign the Jets’ proposal if everything looks good. Revis also says a recent published report saying he wanted $20 million a season is “insane” and doesn’t know where it came from.
