PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon woman has been indicted in the death of her granddaughter.

Paramedics were called to the Gresham home of 58-year-old Carolyn Bellamy last October on a report that her granddaughter was unresponsive after falling from bed.

The child, Ariana Magathan, spent four days on life support before dying a week before her second birthday.

The state medical examiner determined the child died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Gresham police Sgt. Rick Wilson says investigators don’t believe the injury was consistent with a fall from bed.

A Multnomah County grand jury returned the indictment Wednesday.

Bellamy has been accused of murder and manslaughter, and is lodged without bail in the county jail.
