Transient struck and killed near Salem

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — An 81-year-old driver struck and killed a pedestrian crossing Highway 99E near Salem.

Oregon State Police say the victim is a 42-year-old transient who was trying to cross the highway Saturday evening in a partially lit area when he was hit in the southbound lanes.
