SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Gonzaga basketball players Steven Gray and Kelly Olynyk are briefly following the game plan of a different coach: William Shakespeare.

Both are appearing in a campus production of “Romeo and Juliet.” Gray plays Tybalt, Romeo’s rival. Tybalt is slain by Romeo in a fight that leads to the hero’s banishment.

Olynyk plays Abraham, Romeo’s friend and a servant in the Montague House. Olynyk shows versatility by also playing a watchman later in the play, which concludes a two-week run this weekend.

The No. 12 Zags open their exhibition season Friday against Southern Oregon.
