MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A Medford man will spend 18 months in prison for accidentally killing a friend with a bow and arrow.

The Mail Tribune reports that 33-year-old Robert Leroy Bogart wept and apologized in court Wednesday after pleading guilty to a charge of criminally negligent homicide as part of a plea bargain.

He also agreed to pay about $1,700 for funeral expenses for 25-year-old William Joseph Roberts.

Authorities say that on Sept. 23 the two men were horsing around with a variety of weapons, pointing them at each other, when Bogart accidentally shot an arrow that pierced Roberts’ chest.
