SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — An airport official says an aircraft bound from Oregon to Texas was diverted to Salt Lake City after a report that a passenger became unruly.

Spokeswoman Barbara Gann said American Airlines flight 1476 from Portland to Dallas landed at Salt Lake City International Airport about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Gann said she wasn’t aware of any threats to the plane or the 146 passengers on board.

She says the pilot of the MD-88 decided to land in Utah after a male passenger refused to comply with directions from the flight crew.

Gann says the man and his bags were removed from the flight, and FBI agents and airport security were interviewing him.

The airport official says the flight was expected to resume travel to Dallas later in the day.
