More parking due for Cannon Beach on Ore. coast

CANNON BEACH, Ore. (AP) — The city of Cannon Beach plans to add about 60 downtown parking spaces to help with overflow parking during peak tourist season on the Oregon coast.

The Daily Astorian reported the Cannon Beach City Council has adopted a plan to reconfigure a recycling depot to make room for the additional parking at a cost of about $6,000.

Downtown merchants for several years have asked the council to replace an estimated 100 spaces that were eliminated because of new regulations and development.

The new parking would be available only during the summer and, possibly, during spring break, when tourists visit Cannon Beach.
