INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Caracortado defeated Cherokee Heaven by 134 lengths to win his turf debut in Thursday’s $55,504 feature at Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Joe Talamo, Caracortado ran six furlongs in 1:07.79 and paid $9.60, $6.20 and $3.60. Cherokee Heaven returned $8 and $6.20. Amazombie was another length back in third and paid $3 to show.

It was Caracortado’s first start since finishing seventh in the Preakness on May 15 for trainer Mike Machowsky, who co-owns the colt he also bred in California.
