South Alabama routs Spring Hill 81-53

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Martino Brock and Augustine Rubit each scored 16 points and South Alabama breezed past Spring Hill 81-53 on Friday night.

Rubit had 15 rebounds and Rico Sanders added 12 points as the Jaguars extended the series lead over their NAIA crosstown opponent to 16-3. It was the season opener for the Jaguars and an exhibition game for Spring Hill (1-1).

The Jaguars led 37-26 at halftime and went on a 19-1 run in the second half to extend the lead to 63-33 on a jumper by Tim Williams with 9:57 to play.

South Alabama forced Spring Hill into 25 turnovers and held the Badgers to 34.4 percent shooting (21-for-61) for the game.

The Badgers were led by Steve Edwards with 17 points and Kyle Watkins added 10.
