Australian forward Danny Allsopp leaving DC United

WASHINGTON (AP) — Australian forward Danny Allsopp is leaving D.C. United.

United announced Monday that it has reached a mutual agreement with Allsopp to terminate his contract.

Allsopp played in 23 MLS games with 18 starts in his only season in Washington. He scored five goals, tying MLS rookie of the year Andy Najar for the team lead.

Allsopp joined United from Qatari club Al-Rayyan in January 2010. He has also made three appearances for the Australian national team.
