SEATTLE (AP) — The National Weather Service says the next storm to hit Washington will likely bring heavy snow to the Olympics and Cascades through Wednesday.
Forecasters say the snow level will drop below 2,000 feet, which means the snow will affect drivers in the mountain passes. Accumulations expected from 6 to 20 inches.
Forecaster don’t expect much snow in the lowlands of Western Washington except perhaps in Whatcom County at the end of the week.
Forecasters say mixed rain and snow could fall on parts of Eastern Washington from Wednesday through into the weekend.
With heavy snow forecast, the Transportation Department is closing Cayuse Pass Tuesday on Highway 123 at Mount Rainier. The snow is likely to close nearby Chinook Pass as well.
