Motorists on Interstate 5 in Portland should watch for flaggers and detour signs after 9 p.m. this week, and after 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, state transportation officials say.

A series of freeway ramps on the east side of the Willamette River are being closed overnight for inspections of the ramp structures and the steel and concrete superstructures:

o I-5 southbound to the Southeast Belmont Street ramp.

o Southeast Belmont to the I-5 northbound ramp.

o I-5 southbound connector ramp to Morrison Street.

o Southeast Morrison connector to I-5 northbound.

o Southeast Morrison eastbound connector to Interstate 84 eastbound.

Motorists need to be cautious and watch for flagger crews and detour signs.

The closures end at 5 a.m. until Friday and Saturday, when they end at 7 a.m., according to a bulletin from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
