A Battle Ground school official said the Yacolt area was without power for about an hour this morning, including Yacolt Primary School.

The outage caused minimal interruption to students and staff, according to Gregg Herrington, a Battle Ground Public Schools spokesman, who said “school continued humming along.”

Backup lights came on as the power went off. The phones continued to work throughout the outage.

“A private tree contractor was removing trees and took out one of our lines,” said Mick Schutt, a spokesman for Clark Public Utilities. The contractor was working along Amboy Road, south of Gerber-McKee Road.

Schutt said 981 customers lost power at 9:35 a.m. It was restored at 10:35 a.m.
