TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Afternoon and evening classes have been canceled in an academic building at Pacific Lutheran University because of a small fire.

The Morken Center was closed for the rest of the day so officials could clean-up from the smoke.

University spokesman Greg Brewis told The News Tribune the fire was small and appeared to be caused by a mechanical problem.

Fire officials believe the fire started in a utility vault on the seventh floor.
