LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Kings left wing Scott Parse needs surgery on his hip that will keep him out for three to four months.

The Kings scratched Parse for Wednesday night’s game against Columbus, and the Pacific Division leaders won’t get their first-line forward back at least until February.

Parse has played in just five games this season after missing the first 11 with an injured groin. He was slated to be on the Kings’ top line this season, but injuries have limited him to one goal. He scored Monday night in a loss at San Jose.

Parse will have surgery next week in Tennessee.

The Kings also put left wing Alexei Ponikarovsky on injured reserve Tuesday and recalled left wing Dwight King, who made his NHL debut against the Blue Jackets.
