Local soldier on ‘Wheel of Fortune’

A Vancouver soldier is scheduled to be a contestant on “Wheel of Fortune” at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Sgt. 1st Class John Alanis will appear on the telecast on KATU Channel 2 as part of “Wheel Salutes our Military,” featuring active service members, veterans and reservists.

According to a publicist for the show, Alanis is a longtime Vancouver resident who currently lives in San Clemente, Calif.

After 11 years on active duty, including deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, Alanis now is an Army Reservist. He works as an Arab linguist and Army training consultant.
