KENT, Wash. (AP) — A Federal Way police officer has shot a man in Kent.
Kent police Lt. Patrick Lowery told KIRO-TV that Federal Way officers had responded early Thursday to a call from a woman who said her ex-boyfriend had violated a no-contact order.
The boyfriend left, but an officer spotted his white pickup truck at a parking lot in Kent where a man was walking away.
Lowery says the officer confronted the man who was armed with a gun. Lowery says when the man raised the gun, the officer fired several times.
The 20-year-old man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in serious condition.
The officer is not hurt.
