SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A former sheriff’s deputy with a history of driving under the influence was arrested Wednesday after crashing into another vehicle. This time, deputies found an open can of the now-banned alcoholic beverage drink Four Loko.

The Spokane Valley police department says 49-year-old James L. Crabtree was arrested on suspicion of negligent driving.

Before the arrest, motorists called police to report Crabtree was “passing out” behind the wheel. He eventually crashed into another car. Following the collision, motorists blocked Crabtree’s car to prevent him from leaving.

In 2001, Crabtree was arrested for driving under the influence after crashing head-on into a patrol car, severly injuring the police officer inside. In 2006, he was arrested again after crashed head-on with another car.
