Scaife carries Ball State to 75-60 victory

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Jauwan Scaife scored a career-high 24 points, including 11 straight during a key second-half stretch, to lead Ball State to a 75-60 victory over Indiana State Wednesday.

The Cardinals (2-0) trailed 37-36 with 14:52 when Scaife took over, scoring on a jumper, a three-point play, two more jump shots and a pair of free throws in a span of two minutes to put Ball State on top 47-37. Scaife had 22 points in the second half.

Randy Davis added 15 points and nine assists for Ball State, while Jarrod Jones had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Carl Richard had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Indiana State (1-3), which led 27-20 before Ball State went on a 9-2 run in the final 2 minutes of the first half.

The Cardinals took advantage of 26 turnovers by the Sycamores, outscoring Indiana State 33-9 in points off turnovers.
