ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon acupuncturist has agreed to surrender his acupuncture license and pay $50,000 to the state consumer protection fund after he was accused of providing naturopathic services without a license.
The Ashland Daily Tidings reported that Paul Shandor Weiss was previously licensed as a naturopathic doctor, but he surrendered his license early this year after several serious complaints with the state.
Under the settlement with the Oregon Department of Justice announced Thursday, Weiss also agreed to permanently cease providing any health care service in Oregon.
An investigation by the state attorney general’s office found that Weiss used language on his website and intake forms that misrepresented the fact he had surrendered his naturopath license and that he was providing services outside the scope of a licensed acupuncturist.
