BEND, Ore. (AP) — Deschutes County authorities believe they’ve caught the four suspects behind a string of thefts along Interstate Highway 5 between California and Washington.

KTVZ-TV reports that police tracked the four to a motel in Bend using GPS devices in two stolen cell phones on Thursday.

An alarm in the phones was activated and police were able to use the noise to find the suspects’ room.

The four suspects were identified as Jose Salas and Sophia Hernandez, both 20, and Fernando Flores and Alejandra Gonzalez-Munghia, both 37. All suspects are from San Diego.

Police believe the four stole more than $19,000 from several major retailers.

Eugene police spokesman Troy Gotchy says all four have been charged with first-degree theft and four counts of receiving by theft.
