Missouri State defeats Pepperdine 80-60

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Caleb Patterson and Kyle Weems each scored 13 points as Missouri State defeated Pepperdine 80-60 in the consolation round of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

Weems had a game-high seven rebounds for the Bears (3-2), who had two other players in double figures as Nafis Ricks scored 11 and Will Creekmore 10.

The Bears led 29-16 before the Waves scored the last 10 points of the first half to cut the lead to three points. But Missouri State opened the second half with a 15-3 run to go up 44-29 and led by double digits the rest of the way. The Bears made 70 percent of their shots in the second half (14-of-20) and were at 60.5 percent for the game from the outside.

Mychel Thompson scored 20 points to lead Pepperdine (1-4). Taylor Darby had 15 points and six rebounds for the Waves.
