Cincinnati defeats Florida A&M 76-51

CINCINNATI (AP) — Cashmere Wright scored 18 points and Yancy Gates tallied a double-double to lead Cincinnati in a 76-51 win over Florida A&M on Monday night.

Gates had 11 rebounds to go with his 11 points as the Bearcats (3-0) won the battle of the boards 46-27.

There were plenty of rebounding opportunities in the first half as the Rattlers (2-2) made just 28 percent of their field goals (7 of 25).

Cincinnati used an 11-1 run to take its biggest lead of the first half, 34-18, on Sean Kilpatrick’s 3-pointer with 2:15 left until halftime. The Bearcats, who improved their record to 12-0 against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference teams, led 37-24 at halftime.

Dion Dixon added 14 points and Ibrahima Thomas chipped in 11 for Cincinnati. Thomas’ tip-in put the Bearcats up by their largest margin of 27 points, 76-49, with 1:17 left.

Brandon Hosley scored 10 points for Florida A&M.
