EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Eugene police are investigating whether the same man may be responsible for two reported assaults within an hour of each other on the University of Oregon campus.

The women gave similar descriptions of a man who grabbed or groped them late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Campus security officers detained a suspect who was arrested by police.

He’s identified as 26-year-old Nolan Heinz, a sixth-grade teacher at Kennedy Middle School in Eugene.

KVAL reports he was held Monday at the Lane County Jail charged with sexual assault.

The school placed him on leave and sent a letter home to parents saying he would not be teaching, pending the outcome of the case and a district investigation.
