Wright State edges out Oakland 82-79

FAIRBORN, Ohio (AP) — Vaughn Duggins scored 23 points, including Wright State’s final six in an 82-79 win over Oakland on Tuesday night.

The Raiders (3-1) trailed 77-76 with 1:18 left, before Duggins’ layup put them ahead for good, 78-77, with 1:03 to play. Duggins, who made 6 of 6 free throws, then made all four of his attempts from the line in the final 24 seconds.

Wright State shot a perfect 21 for 21 as a team from the foul line. With the Grizzlies (1-3) making just 8 of 14 (57.1 percent), it was the difference in a game which saw 12 lead changes and nine ties.

Troy Tabler and Cooper Land added 17 points each for the Raiders.

Wright State trailed 41-36 at halftime and shot 51.9 percent from the field in the second half (14 of 27) to outscore the Grizzlies 46-38.

Keith Benson led Oakland with 25 points. Reggie Hamilton added 15 and Larry Wright had 14 for the Raiders.
