LONDON (AP) — Tomas Berdych has won his first match at the ATP World Tour Finals, leaving Andy Roddick with an 0-2 record after beating the American 7-5, 6-3.

Roddick was annoyed by the advertising lights at the feet of the line judges in the second set. The lights sometimes flashed red while play was going on.

Shortly after complaining, Roddick was broken for the second time, giving Berdych a 3-2 lead. The sixth-ranked Czech held twice and then broke again in the final game.

In the first set, Berdych converted his first break point in the 11th game, minutes after saving two set points from Roddick.

Later Wednesday, top-ranked Rafael Nadal was to play Novak Djokovic. Both won their opening matches.
