Local election turnout was nearly 68%

A total of 149,045 Clark County voters cast ballots in the Nov. 2 general election, for a ballot return rate of 67.87 percent.

The Clark County Elections Department released its final report Tuesday.

It contained no surprises. County voters chose Republican Dino Rossi over Democratic U.S. Sen. Patty Murray by a ratio of 54 percent to 46 percent. Murray narrowly won re-election to a fourth term in the statewide vote.

Voters in the county also chose Republican state Rep. Jaime Herrera to succeed Democratic U.S. Rep. Baird in representing Southwest Washington’s 3rd Congressional District. Herrera defeated Democratic candidate Denny Heck 55.15 percent to 44.5 percent in Clark County and won the seat in the districtwide vote
