Pepperdine holds off Arkansas State 69-62

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Lorne Jackson scored 16 points and Mychel Thompson added 13 points and nine rebounds as Pepperdine held off Arkansas State 69-62 in the consolation round of the NIT Season Tip-Off on Tuesday.

Joshua Lowery had 12 points and Dane Suttle Jr. finished with 11 for the Waves (2-4).

Donald Boone led the Red Wolves (0-5) with 19 points while Martavius Adams had 16.

Pepperdine trailed 33-26 at halftime and 41-36 with 15:15 to play before rallying with a 19-9 run which gave the Waves the lead for good.

Arkansas State got as close as three twice in the final 37 seconds, but Pepperdine secured the victory by hitting 8 of 8 free throws in the final minute.
