A man was struck in the head with a baseball bat Wednesday afternoon by a resident after he entered the occupant’s kitchen through a window.

Police are searching for the apparent intruder in the area surrounding the Mission Hills Apartments, located at 11900 Northeast 18th Street, according to Kim Kapp, a Vancouver Police spokeswoman.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 20s with black hair and a white T-shirt, along with a serious head wound. He was last seen running southbound on Southeast 118th Avenue.

“He’s bleeding pretty profusely,” a dispatcher said.

The Vancouver and Camas police departments were dispatched to search for the man shortly before 1 p.m.

Kapp said at 1:40 p.m. the suspect had not been located.
