COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Ramon Galloway scored 12 points and Lakeem Jackson added 11 to lead South Carolina to a 57-41 victory over South Carolina-Upstate on Tuesday night.

Both teams struggled from the field and the Gamecocks (3-1) did not take command until a 14-0 run during the middle of the second half.

Galloway and Jackson combined to score the first 10 points of the run while the Spartans suffered through a 7:22 stretch without a basket.

Galloway’s 3-pointer began the run and Jackson followed with a three-point play. Galloway then scored on a fast break before Jackson scored off of an offensive rebound to make it 41-28 with 11:40 remaining. That’s as close as it would be the rest of the way. Babatund Olumuyiwa led USC Upstate (0-6) with 11 points, seven rebounds and nine blocks.
