IGLS, Austria (AP) — Olympic and overall World Cup champion Tatjana Huefner led Natalie Geisenberger in a German 1-2 finish at the season-opening women’s World Cup luge race on Saturday.
Huefner won both heats to finish in an aggregate time of 1 minute, 19.594 seconds, edging Geisenberger by 0.208.
Former world champion Erin Hamlin of the United States was 0.380 back in third.
Olympic silver medalist Nina Reithmayer of Austria crashed on the final turn of her second run, but stood up and appeared uninjured.
