Nicholls State gets 1st win over Tulane 66-52

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Anatoly Bose had 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists as Nicholls State defeated Tulane for the first time in school history, 66-52 on Friday.

The Colonels (2-2) led by as many as six in a first half that saw six ties, including 20-20 at the break.

Nicholls State started the second half with a 13-3 spurt to lead 33-23. The Green Wave (3-2) closed to 43-41 with 5:39 left, but the Colonels quickly pushed the lead back to seven, capped by Fred Hunter’s three-point play.

Nicholls State entered the game 0-18 all-time against Tulane and hosted the Green Wave for the first time since 1991.

Hunter added 15 points and Kenny Franklin Jr. had 12.

The Colonels held Tulane’s leading scorer, Kris Richard, who was averaging 18.3 points per game, to 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting. Kendall Simmons scored 14 for the Green Wave, who shot 35.4 percent from the field (17 of 48).
