Northern Colorado beats Bethune-Cookman 69-45

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Devon Beitzel scored 17 points and Neal Kingman added 16 to lead Northern Colorado past Bethune-Cookman 69-45 in the final round of the Las Vegas Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

From the field, Beitzel was 6 of 8 and Kingman was 6 of 9 as the Bears (3-3) pulled away from the Wildcats (2-4) to start the second half with a 13-0 run after leading 31-25 at intermission.

Chris Kaba added nine points and eight rebounds.

CJ Reed led Bethune-Cookman with 18 points and four steals, and Alexander Starling added nine points.

Northern Colorado from the field shot 61 percent, while Bethune-Cookman shot 30 percent. The Wildcats were also outrebounded 40-23.

The Bears never trailed in the first half and built a 28-15 advantage with 7:54 left. After the run to start the second half, Wildcats never got closer than 12 the rest of the game.
