Saint Mary’s routs Texas Tech 88-68

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (AP) — Tim Williams had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Saint Mary’s to an 88-68 victory over Texas Tech in the third round of the South Padre Invitational Friday night.

The Gaels (6-0), who meet No. 23 BYU on Saturday, had five players score in double figures. Mickey McConnell scored 18 points, while Rob Jones had 12 points and eight rebounds. Matthew Dellavedova had 10 points and eight assists and Mitchell Young had 10 points in just 13 minutes.

Saint Mary’s shot 71 percent in the first half to open up a 47-23 lead at the break. The Gaels finished the night at 59 percent from outside.

Robert Lewandowski had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Texas Tech (4-2), which will face South Florida on Saturday. Brad Reese led the Red Raiders with 13 points.
