Troy tops Western Kentucky 28-14, is bowl-eligible

TROY, Ala. (AP) — Corey Robinson threw for 304 yards as Troy became bowl-eligible with a 28-14 win over Western Kentucky on Saturday.

Robinson completed 26 of 39 passes and threw for two touchdowns, both to Chip Reeves.

Robinson’s 47-yard strike to Reeves with 12:39 left in the game broke a 14-14 tie. Robinson threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Reeves in the second quarter.

Western Kentucky running back Bobby Rainey ran for 157 yards on 27 carries, including first-half touchdowns of 9 and 5 yards, but the Trojans (6-5, 5-2 Sun Belt Conference) held the Hilltoppers (2-10, 2-6) to 267 total yards. Kawaun Jakes completed 10 of 23 for 81 yards.

Shawn Southward ran for 81 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to put Troy up 28-14. Chris Anderson scored on a 9-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
