• Mike Kinnaman, owner of Vancouver-based Designers Northwest, will serve as the 2011 president of the Building Industry Association of Clark County. The 800-member trade association represents those involved in land development and construction in the region and operates with an $800,000 annual budget and seven-member staff. Six of the 30 board members make up the association’s executive board. They are Kinnaman, president; Ryan Zygar, Tamarack Homes, vice president; Paul McGraw, Spacemaster Construction, vice president-secretary; John Caughell, Argentstratus Inc., vice president-treasurer; A.J. Gomez, Global Security & Communication, vice president-associate; and Tracy Doriot, Doriot Construction, past president.
• Four lawyers from the Portland commercial law firm Greene & Markley, P.C. were honored in the 2010 issue of “Oregon Super Lawyers” magazine. Jessica Shoup of Vancouver was selected as a Rising Star. Ward Greene, Charles Markley and David Foraker, the three founding fathers of the Greene & Markley law firm, were included in the list of the state’s outstanding lawyers. Shoup concentrates her practice in federal, state and local tax controversies.
• Kevin Wann, president of Vancouver-based Pacific Lifestyle Homes, has been named to the board of directors and the executive committee of the Home Builders Association of Metro Portland. Wann founded Pacific Lifestyle Homes in 1996. The company has since built more than 2,000 homes and has been recognized twice as Builder of the Year by the Building Industry Association of Clark County.

• Heidi O’Connor is opening The Kids Cooking Corner, a culinary school for children, on Dec. 1 in the historic Padden home, 5206 N.E. 78th St. The school will teach kids of all ages how to be safe, comfortable and creative in the kitchen.
