Western Carolina routs William & Mary 64-39

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Mike Williams scored 16 points and Western Carolina routed William & Mary 64-39 on Sunday.

The Catamounts (3-4) scored 27 points off of 19 Tribe turnovers, while holding William & Mary (2-4) to 36.8 percent shooting (14 of 38).

Western Carolina, which scored the first eight points, led 12-7 in the first half before blowing it open. The Catamounts used a 14-2 run to go up 26-9 on Harouna Mutombo’s 3-pointer with 6:54 left in the first half.

Western Carolina scored 20 points off 11 turnovers to lead 36-17 in the first half. The Catamounts snapped a two-game losing skid, while ending a two-game winning streak for the Tribe.

Richie Gordon chipped in 11 points, three blocks and three steals for Western Carolina.

Kyle Gaillard led William & Mary with 11 points. The Tribe’s leading scorer, Marcus Kitts (13 points per game) was held to just six points.
