BURNABY, British Columbia (AP) — The expansion Vancouver Whitecaps of Major League Soccer are partnering with video game giant EA Sports.
The deal announced Monday provides an undisclosed financial component to the club and gives EA Sports exclusive access to motion capture Whitecaps players for its hit FIFA Soccer games.
EA Sports develops its soccer game in suburban Burnaby and will also access players, staff, and its fans to test early versions of its soccer products.
EA Sports’ FIFA Soccer franchise has sold more than 100 million units lifetime, making it the best-selling sports video game in the world.
The Whitecaps begin play in 2011 and previously announced partnership deals with Bell Canada and BMO Financial Group.
