SAO PAULO (AP) — A 19-year-old Brazilian man has died of head injuries after being repeatedly hit by iron bars during a brawl between dozens of rival soccer fans.

Police say Otavio Fernandes died after Saturday’s fight between Atletico Mineiro and Cruzeiro supporters in the southeastern city of Belo Horizonte.

The Agencia Estado news service said Monday that Cruzeiro fans were on their way to watch a match when they came across Atletico fans attending another event in the city.

More than 50 fans were involved in the fighting, which also left two men hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries.
