MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota guard Devoe Joseph has returned to the court after serving a six-game suspension for violating team rules.

Joseph was suspended the night before the season opener against Wofford on Nov. 12. Even without their most versatile offensive player, the 15th-ranked Golden Gophers entered the game on Monday night against Virginia 6-0. They won the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, beating North Carolina and West Virginia in the process.

Still, the 6-foot-3 combo guard’s return was a welcome sight for a Gophers team that was missing starting point guard Al Nolen because of a foot injury.

Joseph checked in with 14:21 to play in the first half. He averaged 9.4 points as a sophomore last season.
