WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Freshman J.T. Terrell scored a season-high 32 points and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 2.7 seconds left to help Wake Forest beat Iowa 76-73 on Tuesday night in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Terrell hit seven 3-pointers, none bigger than when he lofted a shot off the dribble over Bryce Cartwright that dropped cleanly through the net and set off a rowdy celebration by the home crowd.

Iowa called a quick timeout and set up an inbound play, but Travis McKie tipped Eric May’s pass to halfcourt and Terrell ended up with the ball as time expired.

Terrell’s 32 points are the most by an Atlantic Coast Conference freshman this season. The Demon Deacons (4-3) needed every one of them, too, as they fell behind by 18 points late in the first half before rallying to set up the thrilling finish.

May scored 17 points to lead the Hawkeyes (3-4).
