Winter Weather Advisory issued for Gorge

A winter weather advisory took effect in the Columbia River Gorge Tuesday as snow and freezing rain fell throughout Skamania County.

Oregon Department of Transportation officials urged drivers traveling through the Gorge to use chains or traction tires.

The Skamania School District canceled classes today while other area districts were delayed two hours.

In Clark County, heavy rain slowed the morning commute.

The National Weather Service predicts rain today in Vancouver with a high of 46 degrees.

Here’s a look at the rest of the week’s forecast:

Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 44. Calm wind.

Wednesday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 37. Light north northeast wind.

Thursday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Light east northeast wind.

Thursday Night: A 50 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35.

Friday: A 50 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43.

Friday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Saturday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43.

Saturday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Sunday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42.

Sunday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.
