KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Kevin Harvick says he’s established a clear line with Denny Hamlin about their relationship on and off the track.

Harvick says all is well with Hamlin, but he will always defend his race team.

The two tangled during a practice at Dover last week when Harvick intentionally bumped Hamlin’s car as retaliation for comments Hamlin made about Richard Childress Racing. NASCAR ordered both off the track, and the drivers had a heated discussion in their shared garage stall.

Hamlin earlier this week said he called Harvick and the two cleared the air. He also described Harvick as the driver he’s closest to away from the race track.

Harvick said Friday friendships don’t matter once at the track.
