A small airplane with engine problems safely made an emergency landing at a field in Battle Ground early Friday evening, according to the Battle Ground Police Department.

The pilot was alone and not injured during the 5:34 p.m. landing in an open field in the 1100 block of Southwest 20th Avenue. The pilot, a resident of Lake Stevens, was not named in a police department press release.

The single-engine, privately owned airplane was not damaged in the landing but cannot take off again because of the terrain. It will be towed from the field Saturday.
