A Vancouver man was hospitalized Friday after a three-car accident on a northbound Interstate 5 off-ramp at Northeast 78th Street.

Jeffrey D. Sarault, 23, suffered a head laceration and an arm injury in the 3:56 p.m. crash, according to the Washington State Patrol. He was listed in satisfactory condition Friday evening at Southwest Washington Medical Center.

A WSP bulletin said a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Lisa M. Steward, 38, of Vancouver crashed into the rear of Sarault’s 1999 Suzuki Esteem. Sarault’s car, which was stopped for traffic on the ramp, was propelled forward into a 1993 Nissan pickup driven by Jose L. Corrales Nunez, 43, of Gresham, Ore.

Neither Steward nor Corrales Nunez were injured, but a passenger in the pickup, 31-year-old Claudia Pirun of Gresham, complained of neck pain and was transported to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. Information about Pirun was not available.

Steward will be charged with driving at a speed too fast for conditions, according to the WSP bulletin.
