NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Saints have signed running back DeShawn Wynn from their practice squad, a move coach Sean Payton has suggested he would make if Pierre Thomas were unable to play against the Carolina Panthers.

Wynn’s agent, Christina Phillips, confirmed on Saturday that her client had been signed to New Orleans’ active roster.

Thomas hurt his left ankle during the Saints’ 27-24 loss to Atlanta last Sunday, then missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before getting limited work on Friday. He has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game in the Louisiana Superdome.

The Saints have not yet announced whether Thomas will be deactivated or which player will be cut to create roster space for Wynn.
