Eastern Kentucky runs over Kentucky State 58-7

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) — T.J. Pryor scored on a 31-yard run and passed to Tyrone Goard for a 34-yard score as Eastern Kentucky rolled up 24 first-quarter points on its way to a 58-7 rout of Kentucky State on Saturday night.

A 76-yard interception return for a touchdown by Tyson Patrick in the second quarter and a 14-yard run by freshman quarterback Jacob Russell, his second touchdown of the game, gave the Colonels (1-3) a 38-0 halftime lead against the Division II Thorobreds (2-4).

Eastern Kentucky outgained Kentucky State 174 yards to 8 in the first half.

The Colonels got more big plays in the second half, adding a 62-yard third-quarter touchdown run by Kyle Lumpkin and scoring runs of 62 and 31 yards by backup running back Matt Denham in the fourth.

After not getting a rushing touchdown for three games, Eastern Kentucky had six against Kentucky State and 286 rushing yards overall.
