COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — San Jose’s Jon Busch made four saves against his former team and William Hesmer came up with a big stop in the second half for Columbus as the Earthquakes and Crew played to a scoreless draw Saturday night.

Columbus (13-7-7) clinched a playoff spot when New York beat Kansas City but fell two points behind the Red Bulls on the Eastern Conference.

Busch’s best stop came in the 75th minute when he made a leaping save on Chad Marshall’s header off a corner kick.

Hesmer had a right-handed save on Chris Wondolowski’s shot in the 70th minute, helping preserve his franchise-record 11th shutout of the season.

The Earthquakes (11-8-7) are at D.C. United next Saturday. The Crew plays Friday at Chicago.
