LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with goalie Jonathan Bernier, who will back up starter Jonathan Quick.

The deal announced Monday puts Bernier under contract through the 2012-13 season. He had one year left on his current contract.

The 23-year-old goalie split time last season between the AHL’s Manchester Monarchs and the Kings.

He appeared in three regular season games with Los Angeles, going 3-0-0 with a 1.30 goals-against average, a .957 save percentage and one shutout. He’s appeared in seven total NHL games with the Kings.
