WASHINGTON (AP) — Two Republican-allied groups plan to spend more than $4.2 million in political ads seeking to boost GOP candidates in eight key Senate races. The ads comes as the Democratic Party spends its own money to contain potential Election Day losses.

Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies and its affiliate, American Crossroads, purchased one week of air time in Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Washington state, Colorado and Nevada. The two groups have spent nearly $14 million in advertising since August.

The two groups were created to supplement the work of the Republican Party, which has lagged Democrats in fundraising. Crossroads GPS is a tax-exempt nonprofit group that is not required to divulge its donors. American Crossroads is a political group under federal election law and discloses its contributors.
